Abstract
The effect of different parameters on the ultimate strength and behavior of cold formed Z-section beams has been studied. A finite element model for this beam has been prepared and verified by comparing its results with the results of some experimental studies. A parametric study is performed using the finite element model to study the effect of different parameters on the ultimate strength and behavior of such beams. A comparison between the nominal moments calculated using the finite element model, the Egyptian Code of practice (ECP-2001) and the American Iron and Steel Institute Code of practice (AISI-2001) is presented.
